In 2006, I did my first gear demo videos, for the Suhr Badger 18 head and for the Komet Concorde amp. In the Badger 18 video, I thoroughly explained the amp and it's features, and demonstrated the amp by playing simple licks and progressions using a variety of guitars and settings. And I recorded the amp properly, as you would in a professional studio- nice mics, preamps, the works. Well, the video was a hit, to date it has over 130,000 views. Since then, I've done similar demo videos for Strymon pedals, Boss pedals, my signature CAA PT100 amp, the Fractal Axe FX, and more. I've also done audio-only demos for Retro-Sonic pedals, IK Multimedia Amplitube, Tone Freak pedals, and more.

I've come to realize the impact these gear demos can have- if done right, they can generate much excitement and buzz about a product. They also allow people who don't live close to a retailer that stocks the product to hear it and make an informed decision on a mail-order purchase.

I use great mics, API and Universal Audio mic pres, Apogee converters, Logic Studio- all professional, all the way. My formula is simple- explain the product in a clear and concise way, and demonstrate it's capabilities by playing simple, concise musical ideas!
